Brechin, 28-Year-Old (Scotland)  Established in 1820, and more usually known as North Port, this east coast distillery closed in 1983. It was subsequently demolished and is now the site of a supermarket.
Quite dry on the nose, almonds, bitter chocolate and a whiff of smoke. Sherbet, then liquorice on the palate, with some underlying wood smoke, morphing to clotted caramels. Fudgy notes and lingering hot spices in the finish. Diageo 2006 special release, with an out run of 2,040 bottles.
